Silk Bands

Silk Bands' satin laid out as a sheet to the horizon, seen low across it: flowing bands whose folds narrow on one side as they widen on another, a sheen running along the fibres, woven threads, and a low side light whose shade the folds cast on one another. The pointer carries the light.

Velvet Atelier

Dyed sheer fabric curling through moving air on a light ground: pale where a sheet faces you and deep where it turns away, because light crosses it on a longer, slanted path — and the folds flutter at the Strouhal rhythm of cloth in a stream.

Chiffon

Soft satin folds with restrained micro-weave, directional highlights and slowly traveling fabric motion.

Spun Drape

Accordion-pleated satin, its sharp creases leaning across the frame, under two traveling lights: a white one and a colored one cross in turn, the colored light catching first the folds that face it. The pointer draws the colored light toward itself.

Pleat

Rounded satin layers stacked like the petals of an opening bloom, sweeping out of the lower right of a light ground: nested crescents of amber, coral, rose and lilac, soft plum shades where each lies on the next, and a sheen that slides round each rim as the bloom breathes.

Bloom Sweep

Two sheer curtains hang in real folds before a window, each a fine square weave of round fibers; window light glows through the mesh and the back curtain shows through the front one as the pointer shifts your view.

Moiré Flow

A ribbon of fine glowing threads sweeping up through the frame and turning off to one side, twisting as it goes: flat it is a wide satin sheet, edge-on it pinches into one bright line. It surges and eases rather than moving at one pace; a band of sheen travels along it. Under the pointer, fine signals of light run out along its threads.

Silk Current

One wide ribbon of glossy iridescent satin twisting round itself as it winds across a dark frame: broad and lit where it turns its face, a bright fine line where it twists edge-on, its color walking through a thin film's colors with every turn and its gloss burning white along the turns. The pointer twists it.
