Softness, with structure.
Translucent folded surfaces with travelling undulations, soft optical depth and local pressure. An animated WebGPU material study for biotech and editorial interfaces.
Part of Aperveil Pro · Coming soon. The live demo, editor and downloads will open in a later release. Free shaders and blocks are available now.
THE SYSTEM BEHIND THE SURFACE
Inside Membrane Field.
Overlapping translucent sheets carry broad travelling waves. Their analytic slopes change with the motion, and thickness-dependent absorption gives folds optical depth. The pointer produces a local indentation in the surface lighting instead of dragging the whole composition.
This is an art-directed material study, not a cell membrane reconstruction, medical visualization or validated tissue simulation. It does not show biological data, sample page content or solve multiple scattering. This remains a local development preview, outside the published catalog.
No published timing sample. Profile this effect on your target devices.
Membrane layers
Number of stacked membranes.
Fold depth
How deeply each membrane folds.
Layer spacing
Distance between the stacked membranes.
Transmission
How much light passes through the membranes; low values make them denser and darker.

THE SURFACE IN CONTEXT
Made for a real interface.
Give a biotech research story or considered healthcare launch a softer visual language. Use the open areas for readable HTML, keep critical health information separate from decorative motion, and choose low interaction for calm editorial pages.

An illustrative biotech composition
Small structures. New perspectives.
A softer frame for stories about research, care and the materials between them.
An illustrative layout. Your content stays in HTML; the shader sets the atmosphere.
