The shape of a quiet frequency.
Guide persistent sand grains into Chladni-inspired patterns with your cursor. Tune settling, movement and colors in WebGPU, without microphone access.

THE SYSTEM BEHIND THE SURFACE
Inside Cymatic Dust.
Cymatic Dust keeps 32,768 grains in GPU memory. Moving up, down, left or right blends between different nodal modes; the same grains disperse and settle into the new pattern. Spatially varying agitation and a gentle artistic settling force create the motion. Color Looks recolor the grains without restarting their state.
No audio or microphone input is used. This is a Chladni-inspired particle model, not a calibrated plate solver or a simulation of individual 3D grain collisions. Nodal mode is not a frequency in hertz. The display WGSL needs the persistent compute and rendering pipeline; standalone exports are not available yet.
No published timing sample. Profile this effect on your target devices.
Nodal mode
Complexity of the vibration pattern; higher modes give more, smaller cells.
Pattern scale
Size of the pattern on the surface.
Nodal concentration
How tightly the grains gather on the pattern's lines; low values leave wide, loose bands.
Grain size
Size of each grain.
Color Looks preserve these settings. Open the editor for all 16 controls.

Explore shadersTHE SURFACE IN CONTEXT
Made for a real interface.
Build an atmospheric opening for a listening room, experimental music journal or generative art project. The quiet particles leave room for a clear headline; the moving contours suggest resonance without requiring an audio permission prompt.

A space for deliberate listening
Listen with your eyes.
Sound, silence and the patterns between them. Notes from the edges of experimental music.
An illustrative layout. Your content stays in HTML; the shader sets the atmosphere.
