THE SYSTEM BEHIND THE SURFACE

Inside Magnetic Ink.

Magnetic Ink combines directional height waves with analytic surface gradients and bounded parallax refinement. A local cursor field raises the surface into soft peaks; a procedural studio light makes the dark material legible.

The surface is ferrofluid-inspired, not a magnetohydrodynamic solver. It does not simulate particles, physical magnets, true fluid topology or a three-dimensional imported object.

Crest spacing

How many crests fit across the surface; higher values pack them closer.

Surface height

How tall the crests stand.

Crest shape

Shape of each crest: low values give soft mounds, high values sharp spikes.

Surface roughness

Softness of the studio reflections on the liquid.
